Niwata Shigetsugu (庭田重嗣)

Shigetsugu NIWATA (March 19, 1757 – May 16, 1831) was a court noble of the Edo period. He served as Juichii Gon Dainagon Azechi (provisional chief councilor of state and inspector of the provincial government at junior first rank). His father was Shigehiro NIWATA; his mother was a daughter of Ariyasu KARAHASHI. Shigeyoshi NIWATA was his son.

On February 23, 1776, he attained Jusanmi (junior third rank), and on July 24, 1820 (in old lunar calendar), attained Juichii (junior first rank). On April 13, 1824, he became a priest and called himself Yushin. In 1831, he died at the age of 75.
